The girl's mouth fell open. 'Your father was a king?'

Amma smiled. 'And not any old king, either,' she said proudly. 'He was the greatest ever to rule these parts.'

The girl still looked disbelieving. 'What was his name, then, Amma? Go on, tell me.'

'His name,' she said, 'was Krishna Deva Raya, King of Kings.'

This jaunty adventure, set in the late 16th century, takes young readers on a whirlwind tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, exploring history with stories of the region's traditions, food, and festivals.

A heartwarming story, told with gentle humour and great charm by Roopa Pai, and accompanied by gorgeous full-colour illustrations by Archana Sreenivasan,
Krishna Deva Raya is sure to be loved by children, parents, their parents, and everyone in between.
